SOUTH SACRAMENTO, CA — A 21-year-old man is dead after being shot inside the lobby of a Motel 6 in South Sacramento early Tuesday morning, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office.
The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center received a call at approximately 1:30 AM on June 9th, 2026, reporting that someone had been shot inside the lobby of the Motel 6 located at 7407 Elsie Avenue. Deputies responded and located the victim — a 21-year-old male — inside the lobby with an apparent gunshot wound.
Deputies immediately began performing life-saving measures on the victim and requested the Sacramento Fire Department. Fire personnel arrived on scene, but the victim was pronounced deceased at the location. He was 21 years old.
The suspect fled the scene before deputies arrived. As of the time of this report, no suspect description has been released by the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office and no arrest has been made. The suspect remains at large.
Homicide detectives and Crime Scene Investigators are actively working the case. The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed this is an active and ongoing investigation.
