Arden-Arcade News — A man was shot and killed inside Prestige Wine and Liquor at 1050 Howe Avenue in the Arden-Arcade area on Saturday morning. The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the homicide and identified the victim as Kenneth Peace, 31, a father of two whose family arrived at the scene and identified him following the shooting.

What Happened at Prestige Wine and Liquor

At approximately 11:20 a.m., the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center received a report of a shooting inside a business in the 1000 block of Howe Avenue. Deputies responded immediately and entered the business, where they located a 31-year-old man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the chest.

Deputies began life-saving measures and requested emergency medical personnel. Despite those efforts, Sacramento Fire pronounced the victim deceased at the scene. The preliminary investigation determined that the suspect fled the area in a vehicle prior to deputies’ arrival.

Victim Identified: Kenneth Peace, 31

The victim has been identified as Kenneth Peace, 31, a father of two. Family members arrived at the scene and identified him following the shooting. Our thoughts go out to the Peace family and all those who knew Kenneth.

Suspect Vehicle Located via ALPR Cameras

Following the shooting, law enforcement utilized the regional network of Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) cameras positioned throughout Sacramento County. The suspect vehicle was flagged by an ALPR hit and tracked to the South Sacramento area near Deerfield. Officers were instructed to hold their position and not approach — standard tactical containment protocol — while additional resources were coordinated.
